March of the Lady Bags

by hopelesslyambitiousv

Even though on normal day the only thing remotely close to a purse you will ever see me toting around is a plain beige canvas and leather shoulder bag for my books, or the even more depressing North Face backpack for my assignments + Macbook, I am still one of the biggest fans of purses. Specifically, really structured lady purses. I feel like bags are one of the best investments you can make when it comes to style. A good leather bag is high-priced for a reason. It’s classic, always looks great, and has the ability to last; And if it’s a really good structured one, you’re guaranteed to get your money’s worth because it will work with everything you own.

Here are a bags few I’ve been pining after lately:

Alexander Wang

Louis Vuitton

Dooney & Burke

Kate Spade

The addition of a great bag at the end of an outfit can be everything and more. I could seriously get away with wearing the tackiest zebra print rhinestone velour sweat suit, through that awesome Givenchy bag on my arm, and walk the streets with my head still held high. Of course you all know I’m kidding (Right ??!). That zebra velour comment just set my blog back a whole three and a half months LOL.

Point Blank: Invest in a really good Lady Bag. It makes all the difference 🙂

Spokesmodels ♥ ♥

by hopelesslyambitiousv

Three of the biggest names in modeling today are working overtime this upcoming spring fashion season as the face of  some of the most popular brands in fashion.

Karlie Kloss:

Oscar De La Renta

Christian Dior

Gisele Bundchen:

Salvatore Ferragamo

Adriana Lima:

Donna Karan

How cool is this? It’s not enough for these beautiful women to rule the runways at our favorites brand’s fashion shows, now they must command our magazine pages too ? Ugh. Consider me a very jealous blogger.

Collection Obsession !!

by hopelesslyambitiousv

I just discovered possibly one of the greatest collections my eyes have had the pleasure of viewing. Its Temperley London’s Pre Fall 2012 collection and yes, it is as good as the introductory sentence above just described! I mean, have you see it?! It has all the right elements of sophistication, vintage aesthetics, and grace. This collections brings to life the image in my head of what I would one day like to look like (as far as the clothes are concerned). And Oh, have you seen the pearls??!

Do you see how awesome this collection is??? It’s the right mix of the woman who wants to dress up and attend an event fit for a Queen, and a woman who wants to dress up and prove she can still kick some ass :).

Code Red

by hopelesslyambitiousv

Ahhhh, the color red; the most attention-getting of all the other colors that crumble under the pressure of sharing the crayon box with it and living in its shadow. The color that represents everything, from love and lust, to hate and anger, to heat and fire, to desire and temptation, and the list goes on ..

Red is also working overtime this new year as the new black. You know, the classic LBD is now the LRD. That’s right, little red dress. And judging by the looks of this trend, it’s not going anywhere any time soon. So get on board and do yourself a favor, make sure you have at least one to break out of your wardrobe as your absolute secret weapon and “I just threw this on but I still look so damn good” arsenal.

As you can see, the best thing about the LRD is its versatility. Not just on style and length, but also hue. The LRD has a lot more color ranges and options than the traditional black version. You can literally have many LRDs in all types of hues from cherry red, to brick, burgundy, to fuchsia.

Thank me later.

Upcoming Spring Campaigns ♥ ♥ ♥

by hopelesslyambitiousv

Not sure if I made this clear of not. Many of you by now are aware that its my senior year in college (a topic that seems to come up more often than not here), but I don’t think I ever got into what exactly I study. I’m an Advertising, Marketing Communications major. My interest has always been in fashion so I decided to declare it as a concentration. This post is the bridge of the gap between the worlds in which I live, work, and play.

Here are some of the coolest ad campaigns to come, just in time for Spring 🙂

So there you have it. The juicy new ads that will be making their way to a magazine near you 🙂

How Blogging Makes a Better Student ..

by hopelesslyambitiousv

I’m sure you’ve all heard your fair share about how blogging has changed people’s lives, allowed them to open up, and to really dig deep into their passion. But I promise you haven’t heard this take of it ..

As most of you know, I am a graduating senior currently embarking on my last year of college :'(. So as a result, I am absolutely no stranger to pulling all nighters, doing group projects, and writing insane amounts of papers !! The one thing that I have taken away from writing papers is establishing a writers voice. A unique take of a particular topic, written in your way from your point of view. Some of the best grades I have ever gotten in school was from my ability to turn the same topic we all were assigned, and put my spin on it, in my own voice. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that every college paper you write will need to be conversational, I’m just saying consider the professors point of view. Their reading the SAME paper on the SAME topic 50+ times, depending on class size. Don’t you think that the one that stands out and is interesting will receive the better grade ??!

The point that I’m trying to make is blogging is run the exact same way. Almost everyone can create a blog. I’m on WordPress and it’s absolutely free. The trick is setting your blog apart from everyone else’s, and the way to do that is same as a college paper. When you blog it’s all considering your reader. They want your unique point of view, your spin on the topic. If they just happen upon your site, a lot of them probably already follow many blogs. Blogging and papers are your way of making yours stand out from the rest.

Me hard at work. I kind of miss the braids 😦

But Just like college papers, bloggers are expected to produce the truth, so make sure that whatever you write on your blog you back it up with some kind of factual evidence of course.

A thin line Between Food & Fashion

by hopelesslyambitiousv

I’m back in Providence, settled in and back on my regular school schedule again. As I said before, my little spur of the moment trip back home was everything and more !! I felt like my old self again. TV time and talks with my mom, laughs and drinks with my friends, and rediscovering everything that is so great about the city. I really needed that.

But in retrospect, when I look back at my venture back to the city, I can say I certainly did one thing for sure -STUFF MY FACE. I had really good food I miss when I’m out in New England. I hit a few spots like , Cowgirl Seahorse, Magnolia Bakery, Pinkberry, Haagen Dazs, and Papaya King. The truly surprising part of it all is most of  those restaurants I just mentioned are blocks apart from one another !!

The bag image looks exactly like the store !!

Anisah’s Banana Pudding  🙂

Me enjoying some good ‘ol pecan pie 🙂

Anisah’s Pinkberry Treat

Anisah’s bag posing with a Papaya King dog: The inspiration for this post

As you can see Anisah and I definitely had ourselves a sweet tooth that night we ventured off to the west side. But the important thing to take note here is how fashion connects with us on every level including the places we choose to eat. All the components and visual display techniques that go into these places are not just pleasing to the eye, but also to out stomach. Do you really think that Magnolia Bakery just comes up with their unique store and curb appeal look on their own??! Do you think its coincidental that the store front is an exact replica of all their art work on the labels and bags ??! I think not .

The next time you’re out with friends and hit up your favorite places, I invite you to take a look around at the place. Take note of all the trends and fashionable designs elements going on that make your favorite place so special.

Hometown Glory

by hopelesslyambitiousv

Ok, so its my last full night in NYC before I venture off to Providence back to school :(. But all in all, I feel like this trip back home for the new year was a success. It definitely took me out of my “I miss home funk,” More pics from my short stay home will be posted in the coming days. I just wanted to do a quick post right before I go hit the town with my girlies :).

My mood is often best expressed through music, so here’s how I’m feeling:

Have a happy friday, I know I will!

When in New York ..

by hopelesslyambitiousv

As I mentioned in my previous post, I am back home in NYC for a little bit and super excited. When I’m not here I miss this place to death!! The lights, the energy, even the crowed streets. I’ll take them any day over the quiet, slow, whisper that is the state of Rhode Island. I’ve been in Providence so long that I’ve forgotten how to walk. If your from New York, then surely you must understand there’s a certain way we walk here – FAST PACED. If you even slow down for a bit you will be run down by the tons of strangers walking at an acceptable pace right behind you and trust me, nobody is prepared for that !

When I’m here, there’s a place me and my best friend Kim (or as she’s known on here FashionablyKimberly) always find ourselves regulars at, a little hole in the wall bar/restaurant Cowgirl Seahorse. We absolutely love this place. I mean after all, we venture all the way from the Bronx to the financial district right off the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn bridge where it’s located, just to get our hands on their Creole Crabcake Sandwich. It’s so delicious !! Not to mention, Cowgirl Seahorse also has really great drinks served in these vintage rustic jam jars.

So if you’re in the city do as the natives do and get to Cowgirl Seahorse !!!

New Years Eve Outfit Rundown .

by hopelesslyambitiousv

Ahhhh, the sweet smell of what looks to be the beginning of a great year. Too optimistic ? Too early to call? Perhaps just a little too ambitious ?  Duh . Check the link in your browser bar friends, this blog is called hopelessly AMBITIOUS V.  You won’t get any Debbie downer type news from me!

The reason I know its gonna be a great year is because I started it off right :).

After a FaceTime session with my mom back in Providence, she convinced my depressed, self loathing, homesick self to pack my bags and “hop on the bus!” And that’s exactly what I did – NEW YEARS EVE. As soon as my Peter Pan bus arrived in Port Authority I was in a frenzy to find an outfit for the evening. I was feeling so bad out there in Providence and knew I wouldn’t be able to come back home, that I didn’t even bother to look for an outfit. It was the last thing on my mind. But thankfully this is New York City; a place where you can actually find stores open hours before an event, even New Year’s Eve (did I mention how much I love New York ??!)

So I met up with one of my best friends Anisah, and we got down to business searching for outfits.

Anisah unlike me, had a game plan for what she wanted to wear. She walked in stores knowing that she would eventually walk out with the fur vest she wanted. I on the other hand, had no clue what I wanted not to mention, we didn’t even have a game plan for the rest of the night to truly get into what was gonna be appropriate.

So here’s the looks Anisah & I wound up in:

Faux Fur vest purchased at Forever 21, Pants Zara

Top H&M, Faux leather pants Urban Outfitters

So that’s the wrap up of our New Years Eve outfit pre game. I’m just glad I was able to make it home and celebrate the occasion with one of my best friends <3.
